Susan is an author, founder of Amazing Volunteers, and philanthropist passionate about volunteerism and grassroots work. She has just released her book ' How to be an Amazing Volunteer Overseas'. Susan has been involved in the NGO space for more than 35 years, working and volunteering in 70 countries. She has served multiple NGOs over the years, including on the board of the Thomson Reuters Foundation (2018 - 2021), the International Rescue Committee (IRC-UK) (2012 - 2018) and more. She was Vice-Chair on the Carter Center UK board (2010 – 2014) and Co-Chaired the Human Rights Watch London Committee (2006 – 2010). Now Susan is equipping young leaders with the tools and training to create impact in the community.
Josephine is the founder and CEO of the Samburu Girls Foundation - non-profit rescuing girls from child marriage and Female Genital Mutilation. She started her grassroots leadership after rescuing her cousin who was being married off to a man ‘her father’s age’. She housed 20+ girls in her house until she registered SGF, which has so far rescued 1,000+ young girls and sponsors the education of 326 others. For her work, Josephine has received multiple awards, including an Unsung Hero 2011, Head of State Commendation 2012, COVAW champion 2013, UN Person of the Year 2013, African Union Youth Hero 2015, and more.
